I am a single mom, and I couldn't afford to take my son anywhere far away for vacation this summer. So, we made Safari West our 'treat' this year. What an adventure for us. What a magical place. Obviously, the safari, the rooms, the food...were all wonderful. But, a moment that sticks out for me, is when my son took off on his own after dinner to... See More look at the bird enclosure...he is usually so worried about 'losing' me...but he felt comfortable enough and safe enough to venture off on his own. Watching him enough the grounds, the animals, the 'experience' was so heart warming for me.

Safari West If you're coming today, wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy with nature. We can hear the rain drops hitting the trees and see the lemurs leaping in the rain - very cool.

John Regan

John Regan Well I have just booked time at Safari West as I have heard SO many great things... We are staying the night and have booked a Jeep tour. Are there any "secret" tips (they won't be secrets after you post;) that a first timer ought to know regarding what to do and what to bring?

A don't miss experience is our Behind the Scenes tour, which gives you an opportunity for a private look inside our barns and enclosures to meet some of our most captivating four-legged friends. During this up-close and personal experience the guide takes guests on a private visit to the giraffe barn to hand feed our towering friends, ducking their powerful, slobbery tongues! It's a definite 'don't miss'! When are you coming?
