Sean Bagshaw Photography Photo of the Day: This is a scene Rogue Valley locals might enjoy. I took this a couple of days ago from the cemetary in Jacksonville looking over town and out across the valley as sunrsie light broke through the fog. The Rogue Valley Manor is just visible in the distance. All the fog and cold we get around here thi...s time of year can create some fantastical light and frosty landscapes.

Sean Bagshaw Photography I put together a short blog entry about the Nature's Best Photography Awards for those who are interested in seeing which images were honored. Thanks for allowing me to share.

In 2008 I was very humbled to be chosen as a category winner for my image Lunar Eclipse Over Mt. Shasta. This year I was surprised again to have two of my images receive Highly Honored awards in the competition.

Sean Bagshaw Photography 2009 Nature's Best Photography International Awards came in the mail. Great to see work from fellow NW photogs Kevin McNeal, Jon Cornforth, Dennis Frates and more. I have two highly honored images included this year. I'll post some images from the mag soon.

Sean Bagshaw Photography Met up with Seattle photog Jon Cornforth for breakfast this morning. He is widely published including some recent Bacpacker mag covers. He is on his way to 3 weeks of shooting in S CA in his sweet photo trip rig. Wish I could join him this time. Find him on FB and Twitter to follow his adventures.

Wendy Maynard Sean - ever wanted to photograph a snowflake? Check out this setup: http://www.its.caltech.edu/~atomic/snowcrystals/photo2/photo2.htm

Photographing snowflakes can be great fun and a rewarding hobby. It is a quiet, contemplative activity that takes you outdoors on snowy days to examine and record some of Nature's ...

That is super cool Wendy! Looks like you have to be a bit handy to build the system, but you would certainly get some photos that very few other people have taken.

Sean Bagshaw Photography Jacksonville, OR folks I need your help. Does anyone know of a good vista of town other than the cemetary for a photo op? Can anyone get me access to a roof, a high deck or one of the light poles at Britt? JVille is a hard town to photo.

Sean Bagshaw Photography Suffering for the shot: on the way home from Bend last weekend I decided to photograph Fort Rock in the central Oregon desert. I pulled in after dark and set up my sleeping bag in the back of my car. I thought the temp might get down to 25. I woke up at 2AM in a full shiver to find that it had dropped to 2 degrees! I s...pent the rest of the night alternately running the heater and then catching a few winks. The sunrise wasn't spectacular and I could only shoot for 5 minutes at a time before my fingers went numb, but it was a good adventure. Note to self...always bring the winter bag.

Sean Bagshaw Photography I spent the weekend spectating at the National Cyclocross Championships in Bend, OR. I didn't go to photograph, but since several of my friends were competing I couldn't help but take a few. This photo is of my friend, Thom Kneeland. Many amateurs like Thom raced, but all the biggest US pros were also there. For those ...not familiar, cyclocross is a combination of road biking, mountain biking and obstacle course. Racers ride around a winding circuit that can have mud, grass, water and pavement and features mulitple obstacles (barriers, stairs, steep hills) that require you to dismount and run with your bike. Cross is the best cycling sport for spectating and cross fans are a devoted and rowdy bunch.

Nick Beshara David Awesome work as usual Sean! Hey, one question. A while back you mentioned a really great photographer that optimized the contrast and exposure on every piece of a composed scene with flash. Who was that? Thanks!

Sean Bagshaw Photography Photo of the Day: Emerald Water, Molten Sky. I had noticed the deep green color of the water in this pool on the east shore of Lake Tahoe in the evening but the light was all wrong. The next morning we came back for sunrise. When I saw the color begining to show in the sky I quickly scrambled out onto the rocks to get ...into position. Two exposures were blended to balance the light - 13 sec and 2.5 sec @ f/18, ISO 100.
