Ken Salazar Tribal consultation is the cornerstone of our nation-to-nation relationship with Indian Country, and we are revamping our consultation policy here at Interior. I encourage First Americans to participate in the development of this policy by attending one of our dialogue sessions (http://bit.ly/6FSdnT) or sending us you...r comments via email at tribalconsultation@bia.gov.

Ken Salazar Today I had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Jane Goodall to the Department of the Interior to speak with our employees about her views on global conservation. Dr. Goodall's tireless dedication and lifetime of achievements are truly inspirational, and I am honored to present her with the first ever Secretary’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Conservation.

Inviting Ginger Kathrens, who has been labeled the Jane Goodall of Wild Horses, would be a positive diplomatic act. Ginger has studied and filmed these wild animals in our country for nearly 20 years and fights for their preservation according to the 1971 Law. They are too quickly being eradicated by unscientific and groundless roundups.

Agreed. Let's also try to further secure natural areas against any future attempts to harm them (I'm thinking ANWR and what could have happened to it.)

Mr. Salazar; since you sit on the President's Cabinet, can you please explain why the CNN just reported that the Pentagon is issuing all the terrorists in Cuba the H1N1 vaccine, but here locally we are still unable to get the vaccine? Do you and the President feel that the terrorists are more important than the American people that you all would risk the life of one U.S. Citizen to save a terrorist???

America should say "NO" to pesticides! They are setting the balance of nature way off! And causing disease in our children!

Ken Salazar Great day in Houston focusing on our new energy frontier. I announced an MOU with 8 other federal agencies to streamline energy transmission permitting on federal lands and visited a utility company receiving $200 million in Recovery grants for smart grid deployment.

Tribes in the mid-west (the wind belt) are capturing wind and supplying power to their reservations - sustainability is an ancient custom. Also coastal tribes in Washington State are harvesting wave energy. There is so much potential in alternative energy. Keep up your personal energy. You are doing a great job.

Ken Salazar I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Marcia McNutt to our team as the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey! Dr. McNutt is world-class scientist and will be invaluable in guiding our premier scientific agency. She is also the first confirmed female director of USGS.

Have to agree with Katherine. The BLM is operating with no real scientific studies by wildlife ecologists and environmentalists on the wild horse and burro program--rounding up fat, healthy animals, with the ruse that they are starving. As I write BLM is rounding up 100's more animals in Nevada and Oregon this week and imprisoning these beautiful animals in pens with the other 35,000 they have already rounded up and we the taxpayers are paying to feed

The fact that we can't see these sites is not Ken Salazars fault. This is a policy that has been in place in most DOI agencies before he became the secretary, however it is in his power to get them unblocked, i fully believe that once he is aware that his messages cannot reach all of his employees he will support unblocking these particular pages so all employees can participate in this effective means of communication.

I take it back, The DOI security office declined my districts help desk request to unblock these sites citing "facebook and twitter, youtube usage is strictly prohibited on the DOI network. Such hypocrisy!! Why aren't we all tired of this kind of government yet?
