Sharon Jaynes Here's our Girlfriends in God question for the day: Would you say you feel more comfortable working for God or spending time with God? Be honest (not that you wouldn't be, but it might be a tough answer to admit.)

    • Lori Smith I loved the devotional I received from you today, "Come Thirsty." I love how you urge your readers to draw nearer, and to drink more deeply from the well that is only found in Christ. Many stop with a sip; however, our journey into the heart of Jesus is neverending. There is no end to what we can draw from the depths of His heart. Pursuing Him is NEVER boring. He always has something interesting to tell us, something interesting to impart. What a Saviour!

Sharon Jaynes In today's GiG devotion, we looked at the incredible timing of Jesus' discussion with the woman at the well. (If you haven't read it, you can see it at www.sharonjaynes.com/blog) Has there been time in your life when God's timing just amazed you? I'd love to hear about it!

A Closer Look I have to tell you, the story of Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman at the well is one of the most exciting passages in the Bible for me. It is filled with hope for all women who feel abused, misused, and forgotten. It is for all women who have tried everything and everyone to fill ...

Sharon Jaynes In today's GiG devotion, we sat by the well and listened in as Jesus talked to a Samaritain woman. I'd love to hear your thoughts about Jesus' interaction with her, especially in view of how women were treated in those days. Missed it. Find it on www.girlfriendsinGod.com

This is such a wonderful reminder. 5 years ago I had my first miscarriage. 6 months later I had my 2nd. 6 months after that I was pregnant again. I will admit my emotions were very mixed at that point. Thankfully my body was able to carry h...er full-term and I now have a beautiful 3 yr old girl. Last summer I had some endometriosis removed and 2 months later I lost twins. It took me a while to stop focusing on why God had done this to me and put my focus back on Him. Last fall God gave me a treasure in Psalm 71:20-21 "You who have shown me many troubles and distresses will revive me again, and will bring me up again from the depths of the earth. May you increase my greatness and turn to comfort me." The Psalmist continues with praise for his God. At that point I could praise God again. I had completely released my hurt to Him and found a closer relationship with Him. He also used a devo where there was an encouragement to paraphrase Prov 3:5-6 to your specific situation. That was a huge help and I carried it around with me everywhere. God taught me not to depend on the doctors to medication, but to rely solely on Him. My 'golden nugget' that I found last fall had been given to me over 2 years before - it was that God had already blessed us with a miracle child that for all medical purposes should not be here right now. I have shifted my focus to being thankful for her and continuing to praise our Magnificent God.See More

    • Rickey Reiter Hi,this willcome up under my boyfriends compter site... we share a computer. I just read a neat pray, that I had to jot down and save. I just love the way that God, shows his love and care in little ways. Sometimes we just have to have our eyes open enough to see it. Jillpill1959@yahoo.com

I have one that was just recently answered! LOL.......…it’s kinda humorous. Months ago I had new tires put on my vehicle, well, ever since then I found that one of my tires had a slow leak coming out of the rim due to the way the tires we ...installed on the rim. The place that installed my tires was kind of far from my residence so I hesitated to go back to have them fix it. Lately I have been on a budget and trying to get the smallest fund right now to go somewhere else to fix the tire has been challenging. So I just kept putting air in my tire every morning and that would last to the very next morning when I would have to fill it up again so at the time it did not come to mind to have the spare put on. I really didn’t mind for a while but it was getting to be a task every morning. So I asked God how long will I have to do this, when will I be able to get new tires. Well, just yesterday he told me stop complaining, it’s time! ahahahaha. I was leaving for work just a little after 5pm yesterday and found that my tire was completely flat! Remember I usually did not have to add air until the very next morning. I was blessed that day because my co-worker was still around to help replace the spare until I am able to get new tires which will be soon as Father God has blessed me with a little extra money next month! Thank you Father for looking out for me and answering my prayer! :D - Even the smallest things God uses for his glory! If we just wait and hold on for his time , even the little things in life, it will turn out ALL GOOD! See More

The disciple probably thought the same way many of us do __when a woman is teaching a group of ladies, then a man happens to enter into the room. What's going here?
I don't think Mary even paid much attention to who else was in the room, sh...e was focused on Jesus and what He had to say. It is like when we get so excited about something new we are learning in Sunday School or church and we cannot wait to go back again to learn some more. I was so much involved with what I was learning one time, I got up on a Saturday morning to get ready to go to church. Now, until I washed my hair, did I realize church was the next day.
The gusty move I will make is just trusting Him in the following weeks as I teach a Bible study.

Sharon Jaynes In today's GiG devotion, I talked about just how gutsy Mary of Bethany was to walk into a room full of men and sit at Jesus' feet to learn. Is God calling you to make a gutsy move for Him today? If so, I'd love to hear about it.

Today’s Truth“Flee from sexual immorality…Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God. You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:18, 19-20 NIV).
