On April 29th, 2009 the Black Student Organization (BSO), in collaboration with the Council of Black Administrators, Faculty, and Staff (BAFAS), Multicultural Affairs/Office of the Dean for Student Life, and the undergraduate Student Government Association (SGA) sponsored the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the “Ten Demands”. This collective action was taken to increase the presence of African-American women and men at Simmons College which ushered in a process of reflection around issues of diversity and inclusion for theCollege that continues today.
