Skepticality Wild Justice - Interview: Dr. Marc Bekoff

Do animals mourn the loss of their mates? When a human child fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Brookfield zoo in 1996, why did a mother gorilla named Binti protect and cradle the child and help return him to the zoo staff?

In an interview Dr. Marc Bekoff said, "I'm presenting talks around the world and begging people to cut back on meat consumption because that is the way both ecologically and ethically to make the world a better place." This wasn't discussed in the episode, but I am just curious, as a skeptic and vegan, are they many others who respond to this message?

Skepticality Skeptics Mixtape & Jenny McCarthy - Episode 104

This week on Skepticality, Swoopy talks with Derek Bartholomaus, creator of The Jenny McCarthy Body Count.Com. A powerful testament to the danger of anti-vaccination rhetoric.

We also talk with Jr. Skeptic Editor Daniel Loxton about the Skeptic's Mixtape Project, a playlist of Skeptical tunes by indie artists like Jonathan Coulton, George Hrab and Dr. SETI!

    Great episode! As always..
Hearing the anti-vaccination discussion reminded me - a few weeks back Law & Order did an episode called "Selfish" that dealt rather well with a case of ant-vaccination rhetoric in a backdrop of a measles outbreak.
Just wondering if any one else caught that, too?
    Keep up the great work!

Skepticality Greenhouse of the Dinosaurs - Episode 103

Mass extinctions, rising temperatures, and changing glaciers may sound like current events, but Earth scientists are learning that this type of climate change is nothing new.

I'm new and catching up on the last episode with Dr Donald (episode#78) and in it he stated that he had an icicle record going back 750,000 years, then later on stated that about 50,000 years ago there were no polar ice caps. If there was no ice where did the 700,000 years of icicle records come from, or did I hear him wrong? please help, as my critical thinking needs the clarification. Cheers. PS sorry but i haven't read his book yet!
