Smoke-Free Texas “For places in the country that don’t have smoking bans, smoking bans need to be put in place as quickly as possible. The longer we wait, the more disease we are accepting." . . . Hear that, Texas? Tell your state lawmakers to make Texas smoke-free in 2011!

I am living proof, that you don't have to smoke yourself to be affected by other's smoke!! They found a nodule on my lung back in 2000, and I NEVER smoked but I have lived around smoking all my life.

I hear you, I was raised in a chain smokers environment as a kid you don't get a vote. I even had to clean up the mounds of butts piled up in a night. I just wish smokers would not shove their smoke down others lungs against their will.

Yeh, I'm living proof, that you don't have to smoke yourself to suffer from the effects of smoking. I never smoked in my life! Nine years ago I had a real bad scare. I was told that I had a nodule on my lung. All the doctors said---how long did you smoke? how much did you smoke? When I told them that I had been in a lo...t of smoky bars and then meetings, they couldn't believe that I never smoked. Well, nine years later I miss the music sometime, but I still don't miss the smoky, stinky breaths, clothes, houses, etc... I CHOOSE to not go around smoke at all! If there is smoking, then I don't go there. I walked into and then out of a Chilis near my home, because when you walked into the door the stench of smoke slapped you in the face. I'm so happy that more towns are passing no smoking ordinances!!!Read More

Smoke-Free Texas Conroe -- welcome! Conroe is the latest Texas city -- #30 -- to go smoke-free. Kudos to city leaders! Now the city must stay strong in the face of those who are already working to overturn the ordinance.

Marti Howell

Marti Howell I lived in Louisiana until 2 yrs ago before moving to Texas and I think if Louisiana can become smoke-free, Texas can as well. I worked with the Louisiana Tobacco Control Program and the key was getting the cities on board first, the trickle-up effect.

Michelle

Michelle I went out last night to a bar that I have gone to quite a bit and noticed that nobody was smoking, so I asked the guy next to me about it. Looks like they passed it in Dallas city limits end of April!!!!! Yippee!!! Shows you how often I go out because I didn't know. For those still in Texas cities that didn't pass it, sorry....:-(
