Marc I hope you guys don't mind an old fart like me becoming a member of your group. If any of you are struggling with your growth and studies, please send me a message or become my friend and let's have a dialogue. I am praying for SUA's growth as a great institution of change for the sake of the happiness of people of t...he world everywhere. I was so encouraged by reading the SUA Donors newsletter to see the stories of our dear students who we are counting on as leaders of our society at this crucial juncture in history. And to think they sent this poor old man that simply because he donated $25 a few years ago.

Soka University of America Soka University’s annual International Festival is held on the first Saturday of May, celebrating the anniversary of SUA’s dedication on May 3, 2001. The Festival, which is part of Orange County’s Imagination Celebration (www.sparkoc.com) features international food, dance, music, street painting, art exhibitions, ce...ramic sales and demonstrations, games, inflatable rides and about 150 non-profit and business exhibitors.

Attendees are encouraged to wear international attire and to celebrate their own heritages. Admission is free to encourage family participation. Parking on campus is $10.

Over 10,000 people attended the International Festival in 2009. They enjoyed watching over 700 volunteer musicians and dancers from many cultural traditions performing continuously on three stages from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. All performers receive a festival t-shirt as a thank you. Almost all SUA students on campus participate in some way in this festival as volunteers, performers, or as student club exhibitors. See www.soka.edu/festival for more information.

Alli Turrell Would there be any way for me to take the classes needed to meet the requirements for Veterinary school?

Hi Alli,
If you're interested in attending Soka, and then ultimately going on to Veterinary school, one suggestion is to begin the search for a Vet school, in order to find their admission requirements. Then compare to see if Soka offers any of those classes. You may find some classes you'll need that Soka does not offer, meaning you'll have to ... See Moretake them during summer or winter break outside of Soka, at your own expense.

Thank you for question and I think I remember you came to visit us last fall. We appreciate it!

Lara Yūko Heine

Lara Yūko Heine Is Soka very strict about the number of words in the essays, or could my essay be a few words over the 300-word limit?

Soka students are able to think outside of the box and express themselves creatively, but they also learn to adhere to guidelines, which are set for everyone to have an equal opportunity.

Try your best to be within the 300-word limit. The challenge in this requirement is in your ability to express your character, opinion, thoughts, and personality down to the essence of what makes You a unique individual. Thank you for your question Lara!

We would strongly recommend that you update as many portions of your application as you are able. As for your transcripts, if you completed high school since the last time you applied, we will need a new transcript that includes your senior year grades and any subsequent college work you might have done. If not, then we do not need a new transcript. Again, we would strongly recommend that you update your application in order to reflect the year that has gone by since last applying.

Thank you so much for your reply once again. May I ask whether do I need to ask my teacher to rewrite my letter of recommendation as I had submit to SUA last year during my last applying?

If you are applying online, at the conclusion of the application there is prompt that directs you to pay the fee. You cannot submit an application online without making the payment first, which is $30.00. However, if you are mailing an application to us, the fee is $45.00 and you can pay with either check or money order.

Soka does not offer a specific pre-law program. What we do offer are multiple courses in political science, political thought, government, and United States history. Therefore, we have courses to prepare our students for law school, despite not having a program or degree in pre-law.
