The American Council on Education (ACE) is highlighting these efforts on its new Solutions for Our Health web site. The new site, part of ACE’s Solutions for Our Future campaign, will highlight work being done at colleges and univers...ities to improve and advance health care.
“Colleges and universities have had a hand in nearly every major medical breakthrough, a record of innovation that has had a tangible impact on the health of our nation,” said ACE President Molly Corbett Broad. “As the baby boomer generation ages and Americans live longer than ever, our institutions of higher education are training the health professionals who will care for us all, seeking cures for debilitating diseases, and creating cutting-edge medical technology.”

Student Sustainability Leadership Award http://www.aashe.org/programs/student_aw
This award honors an undergraduate student from an Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) member institution who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting campus sustainability.
The ...Student Sustainability Leadership Award includes a $750 prize. In addition, the winner of this year's award will be featured in Sustainability: The Journal of Record.
Eligibility: Any undergraduate student enrolled at an AASHE member institution who has played a leadership role in implementing campus sustainability is eligible for this award. Students graduating in Spring 2008 are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Application Process
To apply for a 2008 Student Sustainability Leadership Award, please complete an application form (doc) and submit it electronically as a Word document.
Solutions for Our Future
The American Council on Education, through its Center for Lifelong Learning, will hold a first-of-its-kind summit for college and university presidents at Georgetown University. Entitled "Serving Those Who Serve: Higher Education and America's Veterans," this event will allow higher education leaders to engage in candi...d conversation about issues faced by America's veterans as they resume their education after wartime service.
Highlights include keynote addresses by U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) and U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), as well as presentations by Stephen Weber, president, San Diego State University; Michael Schwartz, president, Cleveland State University; James McCormick, chancellor, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities; and Robert Shelton, president, University of Arizona, among others.
