What a powerful message and so very true!
As the mom of three adult children, and one teen still at home, I can tell you younger moms that your words DO sink in, though you may not know it at the time.
Repetition is so impt! Keep instilling those positive ideas in your children. Keep your traditions and values alive as well.
Of course, we must embrace that positive attitude ourselves before we can pass it on to our children. If we preach one thing and do another, our words will be empty and meaningless! Kids soon see right through that and quit listening to what we have to say.
None of us are perfect, but we try our best and pray for guidance. The support and love of family and friends - even ones we may never see in person - is priceless!... See More

I now have five grandchildren and this is where I see the "fruits of my labors" - seeing my adult children being such terrific parents!

Thank you, Christy, for all the words of wisdom, the great recipes, and especially for sharing your childhood memories with all of us. I always look forward to reading your stories. Many times your words will bring back precious memories to me. I am a native Texan and can relate to so many of your thoughts. I enjoy your cookbook and Southern Plate.
Have a blessed, healthy and happy new year.

Southern Plate this is my nose to the grindstone week for working on the cookbook. I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit absent because of that but please chat away here and on SP. You are all so dear to me, and I'm thinking of you with each tap of my keyboard!

The recipe sounds really good. But, I have to admit I like your recipes better. Yours doesn't have many ingrediants, and oh so simple. You always make dinner time easy to accomplish. On the other hand, I might just have to try this one.

Sue Walker Dear Christy
I read this quote this morning and thought it quite apt...
"Authentic Southern food is not about pretension" - John Berendt
From what I've seen it's about good food made and served with love, rather than silver and crystal. Although these are OK in their own context.

Lisa Merry Christmas, Christy! I love looking through your site...always full of great ideas for me to try. My husband and I made Holly Jollies for the people we work with, and for the kids' teachers. He said they were a hit at work, and his boss even stopped him yesterday on the way out and said "Thanks SO much for that ch...ocolate, it was so good!"
Who knew something could be so easy and so quick...and so delish!! Thank you!!

Oh that is so sweet of his Boss, and of y'all for doing it! It really is a LOT more fun to give than to receive! Sometimes I feel downright selfish cooking for folks because I just enjoy it so much!

Tina, I made some cashews and craisins, they were so good! I LOVE WALNUTS! thank you both so much!!!!!!

Lisa, Those sure are some pretty babies you got there!
