What do usc and scUM have in common???? Both have weak basketball programs while both fb programs are headed towards NCAA sanctions!!!!!!How appropriate..."Hail to the loosers" and "cheat on" should be their new mottos.

They'll just use these infractions to nullify Dick Rod's contract and then they might get a real coach. I'm not looking forward to that.

I just hope the "new green" will be green. The band uniforms are so dark they almost look black. I will continue to alternate wearing kelly green and hunter green. Go State!

Spartan Football The next Big Ten school - the University of Texas. Sound crazy? Not as crazy as you might think:

The Big Ten has sent college conferences across America into a tizzy with its announcement that it will examine the possibility of expanding. Of course, the announcement was really a non-announcement – the conference has always looked at expansion issues every few years. ...

Well written post. Still prefer ND as #1 choice with Texas #2. Has anyone else felt ESPN has amped up their dissing of the Big Ten after the inception of the Big Ten Network?

It will be a big 12 team, maybe Mizzou, ISU, or possibly Nebraska, but thats a stretch. Then TCU will join the B12, and its a done deal.

Last year we had a lot of uncertainty on offense with young QBs and a wide open race at running back. This year, we know who'll be the quarterback and we know Caper and Baker will be the running backs. I think those elements alone make 2010 a more promising year. Defensive secondary still needs to be retooled, but can it be any worse than last year? Probably not.

I simply pray the qb position will be played by one qb not two or three. I also have faith that things will look better this year. I also hope we can pull it off in the big house over the scUM of Michigan...go GREEN!

Yes Gholston is the prize of the 2010 recruits. However, I see some other guys in this group that will support his efforts both on the offensive side and the defensive side. I am excited to see Schofner play. That kid is gonna be a beast and I am very happy that OSU lacked on their recruitment of him. He was rated very high in the state of Ohio and... See More was basically OSU's 3rd choice. They kept stringing him along and he kept waiting and waiting while the MSU coaches let it be known from the get go that he was wanted as the #1 choice in East Lansing. I like the LB out of Florida too, Wilson. Expect him to hurt some fellow Big Ten RB's! I like Hill cause he is elusive and small...meaning he can get lost behind our soon to average over 300lb offensive line. I have to agree with Austin in that I believe Palizeti is going to tear it up! This group isnt rated nearly as high as last season's group but I see a ton of potential with 2010 recruits. All in all I am very pleased with the coaching staff"s work and ability to go after what MSU needed.

Who the hell is excepting meiocricy? Dont you dare put words in my mouth...I am a realist as well and your analysis is terrible on what you said about Dantonio and recruiting. Besides does it really matter what rankings these guys get. Tell me again what Keyshawn Martin's star rating was? Or how about Blair White? Thats funny because if they beat ... See Moreus out (as far as the experts say) its by a slim margin and with that slim of a margin its because of numbers. You are showing your complete lack of knowledge of both building a program and recruiting. Listen I am not saying that Dantonio is doing the right or wrong thing. But to scream for his firing is a little premature dont you think? He has a winning record in the Big Ten and a winning record overall at MSU. He has put together 2 very good recruiting classes (dont really count his first as his) and comes from a very good coaching pedigree. Lets see coached under Earl Bruce, Jim Tressel, and Nick Saban. He was highly spoken about by Nick Saban, who ultimately got the job for this reason. We had a set back this season and is it really gonna matter much when in a couple of years he is bring a Big Ten Championship back to East Lansing or are you gonna still be talking about Brian Kelly? And lets talk about getting out recruited by Michigan...um Did we not land the best player in the state? Did we not get more top players out of the state last season than Michigan? You have to walk before you crawl...sorry we cant just go out to cali or texas and pick up a huge recruit. Schofner, Gholston, Boisture, Hicks, Bullough...these are just not crap recruits. And you can laugh at me all you want about my comment...I can point to many recruiting classes under both bobby william and john l smith in which even when you looked at the classes you didnt see the up side to them. He addressed what the team needed and got good players to fill those positions ...thats what a good coach does! And keep talking about the hall incident...because thats getting you somewhere. Listen Buddy, if you want to talk football then at least know what you are talking about before you spurt off at the mouth. A top 30 class can mean a top 10 ranking on the field.

Bucky: You might want to learn how to spell mediocrity before you respond. Sorry, but grammatically I'm correct and you're lack of analysis speaks volumes. Take off the fan glasses and you might be able to see the forest through the trees. Dantonio couldn't hold an unlit candle to Kelly. Dantonio lost us at not addressing the significant character ... See Moreissues that make up 12.63% of the roster (if you need math help, too, just call). You just keep smokin' that Dantonio crack pipe because it's definitely clouding your judgment.
