Mark Hey, State Parks - I have a comment and some questions. I am fifty years old. Way back in 1959, I was born with the birth defect spina bifida which left me with club feet and a bad back and legs (think young Forrest Gump in leg braces). I've had a great life, though, because even with my disability, I've been able t...o be somewhat active - I've gone up the easy trail at Pinnacle, and canoed the Buffalo. But at 50, my feet and legs are definitely getting worse. Question: Which state parks have the best activities that are still accessible to folks who are disabled? What can you or anybody else suggest for someone who still wants to make it to the top of the mountain?

Sounds like you've been getting around pretty good. I would suggest some of our kayak and eagle tour activities this winter check the calendar of events for lots of great stuff coming up. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/things-to-do/calendar-events/ As far as hiking we have trails from easy to difficult but only you can decide what you are capable of. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/things-to-do/trails/ Hope that helps. Happy Thanksgiving!

The State Parks of Arkansas Just wanted to share the full Thanksgiving story from our friends at National Geographic. Everyone have a great holiday.

news.nationalgeographic.com
It may be called Turkey Day, but the U.S. Thanksgiving Day is about more than just the bird. Learn about a holiday myth—the first "real" Thanksgiving wasn't until the 1800s—and how we celebrate Thanksgiving dinner today.

Very informative! I wish I'd read this in time to share the facts with my students. I've always known there were many mistruths in the whole Thanksgiving story we grew up learning.
