- The British Council, the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, is running a project called Transatlantic Network 2020 (TN2020). This project will bring new energy to the transatlantic relationship and build coalitions of young Europeans and North Americans to take collaborative action on global issues.
- Mission:
- TN2020 is focussed on three core global issues:
1. Building Resilience in Communities
Communities across the world are divided by tensions based on differences of religion, race, nation or class. In some cases, these are ancient divisions firmly rooted within communities. In other cases, these divisions are new or brewing as a result of 21st century challenges. Ensuring understanding of these differences, without necessarily making agreement the end goal, can lead to more resilient communities for current and future challenges.
2. Sharing Know-How
Helping individuals around the world to access, contribute to, and benefit from the global creative and knowledge economy is a key driver of growth and innovation worldwide. In sharing know-how – through education, skills development and marketplaces for ideas – we create the conditions for economic opportunity and prosperity.
3. Sustainable Living
The world’s population is increasing and our environment is changing; with this comes new challenges. Using the world’s resources in a sustainable manner which will continue to allow society to progress and prosper is vital for all peoples.
The purpose of this Facebook page:
The TN2020 fan page is an online hub for a community of North Americans and Europeans who want to make a difference on the big global issues we face - particularly focussed on the three priority areas of TN2020. Fans of this page can connect, share information, discuss new developments and perhaps even start their own projects as a result of meeting through this network. We invite you all to be an active part of the dialogue.
Please feel free to post questions, thoughts, and topics for discussion.
