Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin Today I flew to the memorial ceremony at Ft. Hood. It was important for me to represent the people of South Central WI in support and honor of our WI soldiers and their comrades. Our hearts go out to the families of those killed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the wounded and all those who suffered from this heinous act. We wish them a speedy recovery. Their sacrifices give added meaning to this Veterans’ Day.

Is anyone putting pressure on those, so called, "Democrats," who will not vote yes on the health care package? What is so good about 60 members if we don't use them?!? You can bet the Republicans would!

This looks great, Tammy and thank you for working so hard to have such good options included. If we can't get the single payer plan that works so well in other countries, at least to have a public option included is really imprortant. But can't you get it to take effect before 2013? In any case, I agree that this is happening thanks to the great work you have done on this for years. Thank you for your persistence and for representing us so well!

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin I was honored to be in the White House today as President Obama signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act into law. The new legislation strengthens our response to hate crimes by adding
protections for people targeted for violence because of their gender,
disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. My video reaction is attached.

I'm a little worried that we live in a country where we can't allow gay and lesbian people to be married, but the same country guarantees the rights of KKK, and Nazi members to march in prodiminatley Jewish or black neighborhoods. Why is the freedom flag always raised to protect hate groups, but hardly ever for the people who they target?

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin This week, I introduced H.R. 3666 to continue federal tax benefits to volunteer firefighters and other emergency responders. Tax incentives help state and local governments attract and retain volunteer first responders, who serve approximately 38 percent of our country’s population and save American tax payers roughly $40 billion a year with their service.

Great. The firefights need all the support we can give them. Also, Congresswoman, are you going to call for prosecution of those in the Bush-Cheney Conspiracy To Torture? For the obvious and admited violations of our Federal Anti-Torture Laws? We voters will never have any influence over our top leaders unless they are held to account for their Federal crimes. Don't you agree?

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin On September 15, 2009, I was pleased to join my colleague, Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) in introducing the Respect for Marriage Act, H.R. 3567. This legislation would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a 1996 law that discriminates against lawfully married same-sex couples. As we continually strive to form a more perfect Union, I believe repealing DOMA is a necessary step toward full equality for LGBT Americans.

Tammy, I work for the Fed Government. My partner is an artist and has to pay for her own Health insurance because the Fed Gov will not allow me to add my partner to my plan. We have to pay out of pocket $350 a month for her coverage. This is America and this is wrong. Change this Congresswoman I beg you to change this or fight to change it.

Very good speech, but the process is in the hands of Congress. I believe all of Wisconsin's Democratic representatives will do the right thing. I'm not convinced that the rest of the democrats in congress will do the right thing. We don't need to convince Republicans to join us, we need to remind Democrats why they were elected to office. Now is the time...

Tammy, if people are too stupid to realize a good thing when they see, why bother? Well, because once they had this good thing, they'd wonder how we ever managed to live without it. It would be a sad thing to let this opportunity for an improved life for everyone in the U.S. go by. Healthcare is not just for those fortunate enough to have good jobs with insurance, or the wealthy.

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin In August, I conducted four telephone town hall meetings, reaching out to more than 186,000 households, to hear your comments and answer your questions about the proposed health care reform bill (H.R. 3200). I have attached the August 18th town hall in full. In the next week, I will also be posting status updates with answers to frequently asked questions compiled from all four town halls.

I saw on the news a little old man complaining no one called him, how come she doesn't want his opinion? Well, I'm assuming I got a call because I gave you my phone number!(on your website), you can't just go through the phone book and start calling people, can you? The only thing was I got no warning there was going to be a call, I gave my land ... Read Moreline, which has no caller id and a 2' cord in somewhere I don't want to sit for an hour, so I let the answering machine "screen" my calls(yeah, I think there are some old ppl in the same situation), I was on my way out the door, and the voice on the line was so quiet I didn't hear anything so I left... I found about a 3 second msg on the machine saying I'd been invited to a townhall meeting...
I understand not wanting threats of violence at townhall meetings, and wanting to use technology that even most old people can use if they can't send you an email. I just think you need to raise your voice more! Paul Ryan scares me...
