Hak5
Put together by a band of IT ninjas, security professionals and hardcore gamers, Hak5 isn't your typical tech show. Hak5 is a cocktail mix of comedy, technolust, hacks, DIY mods, homebrew, forensics, and network security.

James Gibat-Thoroski

James Gibat-Thoroski I've been going through all the old shows, from episode 1, and love every one of them. Awesome! It's really come a long way and LOVE the way the show is now. Matt needs to stop taking so many "vacations" from the show. :)

OK. I take it all back. There is not a problem with Josh's code. The challenge is supposed to be 8 bytes. This is 16 hex characters, plus 7 colons, for a total of 23 chars. The response is supposed to be 24 bytes. This is 48 hex characters, plus 23 colons, for a total of 71 chars. My guess is that Darren was including too many of the captured hex characters for the challenge. Darren came up with another method and we can expect a followup to this problem.

A workaround/fix was posted on the Hak5 forums, but you can also just get ASLEAP to read your packet capture, as demonstrated.

Nice video but I'd like to have seen you do something with it. Like for the noobs it would be nice to explain what an Rhost was as apposed to a Hhost. Or using the Win version to show how to get a shell.

There was a lot of explanation and I know the presented was probably very good at using Metasploit but before he does his next talk it would be nice if he established first a goal then rehearsed it a few times so he would drift so much.
