MAY 2ND, The #1 and #2 ranked college poetry slam teams in New York State do battle for the final time this
season, on campus @ SUNY New Paltz.
Defending Northeast Regional Champs Suny NPaltz, take on long-time arch-rivals SUNY Oneonta in a war for the ages. Come watch blood be spilled at the mic.
ALSO!!!... Immediately following the slam, stay put for a special feature performance by New Paltz slam team legend and 2009 GRAND SLAM CHAMPION - TRACY SOREN! Tracy's graduating and she will be missed. Come celebrate her career as a member of the team and all she's accomplished before she leaves us for good.!!
AND NOW!!! ADDING A THIRD ACT!!!
The one and only, world renowned TEXTBOOK EXECUTION will be returning to campus to close out the show with their brilliance.
Edy McWilliams and Daniel “Fritz” Silber-Baker make up Textbook Execution, a spoken-word poetry duo that spits honesty, hilarious and heartwarming fire. Edy is a playwright and one of 16 artists chosen to participate in the 2008 Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics' EMERGENYC program. Fritz is a part of the Brave New Voices College Tour and was voted Best Collegiate Poet in the Nation in 2005. They both went to Collegiate Poetry Nationals for UC Santa Cruz which took first place in 2005. They perform nationally, working towards social change and shedding a different light on everyday issues. Both are also a part of the Intangible Collective.
Two of the dopest poets on the face of this planet. This is NOT you grandfather's poetry show. College Hall will have structural problems after these two are done with it.
