A construction project in the Bronx has unearthed caverns where an old local brewery, Ebling, aged its beer.
The Beer Sommelier Thomas Creek’s Up the Creek. IIPA, my ass. This is not only as barleywine as barleywine gets, but it's been aged. I'm tasting substantially aged malt. Somebody either sat on this bottle, or the batch, for a good long time. That said, it works for it - adding lots of sherry, dark fruit and chocolate notes. Would have l...iked to have tried it "fresh," though.

"Beer 101" course has been solidified! While I still need to be tentative about the details, it's to be @Cooks Warehouse in Decatur, Friday evenings, from 1/15 to 2/6.
