Eric Newport A question for students of Evergreen: does the constant rain of Olympia mess up your moods? I really would love to attend Evergreen, but I'm worried about the constant rain possibly giving me seasonal affective disorder.

I can be very independent minded when I know that I am in an environment that permits that. In high school I have become so accustomed to needing to know exactly how teachers want things, which pushes most of my creativity out of the way. So hopefully I will be able to easily fit in with Evergreen's teaching style, which thus far I am a huge fan ... Read Moreof. Once I am actually a student of the Evergreen way, I might sing a different tune, but I don't think so. Right now and for the majority of my college search, Evergreen has been #1 on my interest list. Involved learning, small student body, beautiful campus, a thriving social community (farmer's market etc.), so correct me if I've misunderstood anything, but Evergreen sounds like the school that I most want to attend. Hopefully I'll be a student there next fall.

I remember the drudgery of returning home from the store with a wet bag of groceries, but you get used to it. It didn't bother me enough to leave the Northwest. The school, being smaller is an absolutely wonderful place to go for certain ... Read Moreacademic fields, certain science fields, the arts, political science, & others. Other fields of study may not be offered. No matter what you take they will teach you how to write. It is for the most part a very good choice for the undergraduate.

projects? If so, grant funding is available for Winter quarter through The Evergreen
State College Foundation and administered by the college’s Academic Grants
office. If you’re interested in applying for a grant, the Academic Grants staff
will be offering a work...shop about how to complete the Activity Grant
application today (October 29th) and on November 2, from 4:30pm-5:30pm

LUIS J. RODRIGUEZ
Poet, Author, Critic

Luis J. Rodriguez has emerged as one of the leading Chicano writers in the country with ten nationally published books. He is best known for his 1993 memoir of gang life, Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A. Luis' poetry has won a Poetry Center Book Award, a PEN Josephine... Miles Literary Award, and "Foreword" magazine's Silver Book Award, among others.

Luis will be speaking at the Longhouse on Tuesday, October 27th starting at 10:00am and will have an open discussion following his dialogue.

He will also be speaking at Evergreen Tacoma from 6:00pm-8:00pm! The evening component will be more poetry oriented, so don't miss out!
