Yes, it is! Every minutes that our Lord keeps us on this Earth, is an opportunity to share the awesome news of salvation through Jesus Christ. Happy New Year everyone! A great resolution to make would be to attend church, Sunday School, and Bible study more often, if not on a regular basis, if you don't already do so! May God bless everyone throughout the New Year and decade! :-)

To Susan, I agree with you 100%. To Jerry, you brought up a very good point that as for us and our households, we should serve the Lord. It does begin in the home. In Martin Luther's Small Catechism, Luther address how the head of the house should teach to his family and lead them in prayer. It does start in the home. Then we must follow Jesus' ... See Moremandate to share the good news of salvation to all and baptizing them. First and always in the home and then always spread the word of our Lord to all, regarless of who they are. We must also teach our children the attendance of attending church regularly as well as Sunday School and later on, confirmation class. So many of us follow the matress god and opt to sleep in on Sundays. Not good for us, not good for our children who are our future Christians, and not pleasing to our Lord because He loves us to thank, praise, confess our sins, and accept His forgiveness.

We are not now, and never have been a "Christian nation". While we do have a majority of citizens who claim affiliation with Christianity, that doesn't make us a Christian nation. A Christian nation is one that has officially adopted the Christian religion and who has rejected all others. We have never even come close to doing that. While Judea-... See MoreChristian legal and social ethics were included in the principals of the founding documents, so were other areligious principals and ideas. I'm sure that this poll reacted to people's perceptions about their own religiocity. Similar to the fact, that you can ask anyone who's ever been affliated with your parish where their home church is and I'm sure that a majority will name your church--whether they've darkened the transits in the last 20 years or not.

The auto makers, the banks, Wall St., even Bernie Madoff gets 3 hots and a cot paid for by the U.S. citizens. And the "little people" of the world are still not considered by their governments. And that includes America. Look in your own city or neighborhood and see those in need. Again someone is asking the poor folk to help other poor folk. ... See MoreWhy not ask the government officials to help those in need. The Portland area could use $500k for their homeless community. Now there is a path the Lord would agree with.

I got to go there in 1992, while I was stationed in Germany while I was still in the active-duty Army. I REALLY wish I could go back. It was a wonderful experience. Got to see all the places that Martin Luther made significant in his life. The doors that he nailed hie 95 thesis to, the pulpit that he preached his last 4 sermons from. I really wish I could go back again. If anyone goes, you're in for a really interesting experience!
