Moving to a single payer system is a huge endeavor because first we need to dismantle the huge and oftentimes unnecessary bureaucracy of the for-profit system and replace it with a leaner more efficient govt run health care system. So two things are in the way: first, those who manage that massive river of money that flows thru the current system... I wish I could say the Dems were up to the task. So far, they seem way too timid to enact anything. There are so many issues the president is dealing with, and the worst problem is the Blue Dog Democrats.
