Maybe since it's still RC2?.. From what I know the GENERIC kernel gets changed a lot through the config file like when you're building a custom kernel. In this case RC2 is still being changed IMO.

It's "option PAE", which I need. apparently the adaptec drivers are PAE friendly.. which isn't unepected.

anyone know why my internet is really slow under FreeBSD and other UNIX clones, including OpenSolaris, etc. (tried them all with all browsers). I have dual boot with Windows XP, where everything works normal with any browser. Do I need to configure a proxy, or what? I'm not really an expert. The 'Looking up hostname' t...hing appears all the time, and is quite lengthy, which I think is unusual. ldap and pam-mkhomedir, anyone know how to set directory ownership to the ldap user logging in ??

currently I got pam authenticating against ldap and mkhomedir creating the home directories, but it's owned as root:wheel and the user can't write to their own home directory -- have read the man page for pam_mkhomedir, t...he only way I see atm is setting an insecure umask in the pam definition....

Lots of the app comparisons made me laugh. They admin they're not even compiled with the same GCC version, but still pass it off as a valid benchmark.
