The Prefab Messiahs were an eccentric US proto-lo-fi post-punk garage band associated with the "Wormtown" (Worcester, Massachusetts) punk/arts scene of the early 1980s. Together from 1981-1983, they played shows fairly often, although no recorded material was available from them until 1998's 'Devolver' anthology. Two songs on the album were produced by their friend & self-declared manager (outsider psychedelic singer-songwriter) Bobb Trimble.
Beginning in 1998, The Prefab Messiahs have reunited several times for the Wormtown Anniversary Bash festivals in Worcester.
