TheStreet.com Banks are in a tough spot these days ... they're waiting to hear specifics from regulators about new capital requirements but are also being urged to put money to work to help the overall economy. But until Washington makes up its mind, how can banks actually help?

The banks have become too tight fisted to loan money to those who have good possibility to pay them back. What they need to do is scrutinize those who have not.

Joe Dendel I am still confused with all of the talk about how the stimulus package has not created the jobs that it was intended to do, that nothing has been said about the fraudulent misuse of billions of taxpayers’ dollars being paid to foreign companies. If the ARRA Buy American provision for stimulus funded projects is strictly enforced by the OIG, our country would see addition job growth and an increase in the GDP.

While "Buy America" may sound patriotic and helpful, globalization has made it pretty hard to find products that are 100% American. A label may say "Made in America" but that refers only to assembly - the materials may come from somewhere else. It's also worth noting that foreign companies create jobs in America too -- when you see Toyotas and Hondas on the road, chances are they were built by Americans in America.

In a general way I agree with what you have said however, Section 1605 of the ARRA Buy American stimulus program states “ at a minimum substantial transformation has to take place... Read More”. My concern is that foreign companies that either do not have any offices and/or manufacturing in the United States are being awarded projects over US based companies that actually meet the stimulus funding requirements. Also companies that typically import their products for sale in the United States with only distribution have claimed “substantial transformation” by just bringing products in part form and assembling them. The taxpayers’ dollars going to these companies have very little effect in helping our economy. Foreign entities that actually manufacture in the US and employee the US workers who end up paying for all these programs is a great thing. Foreign entities that receive US taxpayers funds and do not contribute rebuilding our economy.

I doubt it, they still make up a majority of the market, plus people aren't likely to make such a drastic change unless they're is a major incentive benefit that Windows doesn't already offer them, plus theres compatibility issues which would also certainly play a significant factor. This is probably why people have refrained from upgrading to Windows Vista or 7 since XP still offers them everything they need for their computing needs.

TheStreet.com The latest delay of tech's most anticipated gadget, the Apple Tablet, may involve a decision to use expensive OLED screens. With the possibility of two models priced near $900 and $2,000 each, just how likely is the Tablet to be a mass market flop?

Ive seen the experts all weekend paint a bleak picture that has me scared. Ive seen the market jump on Mondays and not have bad losses on fridays which is a different picture than the last few months. Recovery is going to be slow and the Mortage Industry has not learned from their mistakes by continuing to give out expensenive loans to people who ... Read Morecant afford them (which is why we are in this mess in the 1st place). The Obama administration is more concerned with Healthcare which is impractical and will put us further in the hole rather than rebuiliding American Industry or Commercialism. There are better things we can spend our time and taxpayer dollars on. Off the chart consumer confidence is on the rise and I think you can see modest profits in the next quarter after the holiday season.

The economy seems to be doing well at least with the stock market. I want to know why it is illegal to manipulate stocks, yet when Dick Bove or Meridith Whitney speak negatively, it always seems to be when the market it having a very good day, and then it goes to pot. Who is responsible for bringing people in who seem to enjoy having their say ... Read Moreand knocking the pins out from everyone. Who is doing the manipulating? The individuals themselves, or the media experts that invariably invite someone with clout of some kind in, to stomp the market down. If any one does have something good to say about things improving, they always insist on someone else to come in and negate any optimistic outlook, and to shoot them down too. There is too much of this selective commentators and they wonder why the market is violate. It certainly makes me wonder what is going on.

prices may have fallen but look at the alternative energy companys that need corn and soybeans. They have the most demand in agriculture and if you think thats a hurting industry check out BIOF (Biofuels energy). Mexico is going up because like the industrial revolution they are still in the dark ages. Let them get on their feet and watch the floor fall out from under them.
