Regina From Musto's column in the voice: "And so your musical choices this season are about a noble white person who promotes black music (Memphis), a corrupt black man who does so (Dreamgirls), two put-upon black musicians who fight oppression (Ragtime, Fela!), and a spoof of a white star who ripped off black music in, natur...ally, Memphis (Bye Bye Birdie). That's range."

Miriam Rinn Saw two plays this weekend: Inside the Next Room, the vibrator play was charming and funny. Wonderful acting and some good insights into the costs of repression and strictly defined roles. TDF provided great orchestra seats. I'm not sure the other play, The Big Bupkis, is on TDF, but it's off-off-off and costs very lit...tle. Again, a terrific performance by the lead actor, and much funnier than I expected. The best things about theater is the element of surprise!

Veronica Francis Just saw Next to Normal. First time I ever saw a musical drama. So dark and emotional. In the theatre the best usher is in the orch. aisle three. The best.
