Coming to TUTS 12/8-20

After last season’s WHITE CHRISTMAS with “snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,” this year TUTS presents another holiday gift from the wish list of your favorite things ... that classic show for all ages, THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Winner of five Oscars, including Best Picture, the show is one of only four which also won Broadway’s Best Musical Tony Award®. The songs everyone loves, including “Lonely Goatherd,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” form a score still a top-seller for nearly five decades. THE SOUND OF MUSIC, last and greatest success of Rodgers & Hammerstein, will charm you once again just in time for the holiday season. Your “heart will be blessed”... and you’ll “sing once more!”

Theatre Under the Stars’ cheery production of Meet Me in St. Louis combines the kitsch of the ‘40s musical with the magic and intimacy of an old-fashioned stage.

Thea Star here!Cell phones. They have really changed the way the world communicates. In most ways, they allow people to stay connected from wherever they are at any time day or night. But sometimes, they seem more like a nuisance that a help.

I'm still waiting to see which theatre has the balls to be the first to completely ban cell phones from the premises...
the girl whom distracted me on opening night of Meet Me in St. Louis was on the row in front of me and three people down---I couldn't exactly tell her to shut down her damn phone without causing a bigger distraction.

I saw Mary Poppins over the weekend. The audience was terrible. People were texting. Many people kept getting up out of their seats multiple times. Several people were having discussions. I don't even want to talk about the people who were singing. Truly, I was amazed at the sheer number of people who snuck food into the theatre. When I saw Meet Me in St. Louis, the people seated around me were more polite.

TONIGHT'S performance was SO AWESOME! Had the best mother/daughter evening with my 14 year old & she LOVED it! Her fave was Tootie's "I was HUMMM last night dear mother" & ♥ 'd grandpa 2! I cried at the Merry Christmas song - such a beautiful voice from Anneliese! We knew all the songs & have the DVD. Y'all did a GREAT job & complimented the movie well & added a few addt'l! We are pleased & all the hard work was worth it! All characters did a FANTASTIC JOB!!! Encore, encore! ♥
