Our Founder:
As an Army Ranger, Monty Reed had a parachute accident in 1986. While in the hospital, he was told “Get used to being in a wheelchair because he would never walk again. While under-going intensive therapy, he read a copy of “Starship Troopers”, by... (read more)
Mission:
THEY SHALL WALK tm is a non-profit 501C3 medical research organization. It was founded to raise awareness of the plight of disabled persons and develop technology to improve their quality of life. Recognizing the need for better mobility beyond the wheelchair, THEY SHALL WALK tm is developing an intelligent robotic powered brace called the LIFESUIT Exoskeleton tm that will allow paraplegics and elderly to freely walk again.

More research and development is needed to reduce the size, weight, and overall comfort and utility of the LIFESUIT Exoskeleton tm. Currently, Prototype #14 weighs about 75 pounds and is powered by compressed air. It allows the wearer walk up to about 2.5 miles per hour and to ascend and descend stairs.

The next model, known as LIFESUIT Exoskeleton tm #15 will weigh in over 300 lbs and will be able to lift 1,400 pounds. It can stand and balance unmanned, in addition it will be computerized and will be controlled in the same way as a powered wheelchair with a joystick.

A future generation LIFESUIT Exoskeleton tm may incorporate a wet-suit style of envelopment and use fuel modules and lightweight integrated controls.

Much progress has been made! More will be with your help.
