For the 5th consecutive year, a selection of the best riders in the world have been invited to spend 5 days battling it out against each other on the snow in Tignes. All the ingredients are there for a truly stratospheric show: €150,000 prize money (grant) for the winners, an exceptiona...l selection of riders, a huge range of alternative snowsports including those on 2 wheels and thousands of spectators.
A concept from the West
On the “alternative” white planet, there are the X Games in the United States and Tignes Airwaves in Europe. Since the 1970s, Tignes has been at the forefront of freestyle and has clearly been inspired
by the American X Games, the benchmark of the alternative sports world, in creating the n°1 snowsports event in Europe. The recipe could only work in the Old World! Taking place strategically at the start of the winter season, the “Airwaves” offer an XXL playground for freestyle, freeride and skiercross and kicks off
the 2009 season’s freestyle festivities. The international riders have signed up to do battle against each other in the Tignes arena!

Pour la 5ème année consécutive, une sélection des meilleurs riders mondiaux est invitée à s’affronter pendant 5 jours sur la neige de Tignes.
Tous les ingrédients sont réunis : un prize money (dotation) de 150 000 € pour les vainqueurs, un casting de riders exceptionnel, un éventail de sports alternatifs qui glissent ou qui roulent, du show et des milliers de spectateurs.
Un concept venu de l’ouest...
Sur la planète blanche «alternative» il y a les X-Games aux Etats Unis et les Tignes Airwaves en Europe. Tignes, précurseur dans le freestyle depuis les années 70, s’est clairement inspirée des X-Games américains, la référence dans le monde des sports alternatifs, pour créer l’événement glisse n°1 en Europe.
