All possible reasons for sure, but at some level you're just making excuses for a culture in the ad industry that, to your point B, makes people feel uncomfortable to publicly say something as banal as "good luck."

I suspect it's a generational thing: at a time when it's not uncommon to use Facebook Connect to log in to a blog and leave a comment, the anonymous comment thing seems very out of date.

I... Read More’m with Alan on this. What I’ve learned so far is that ALL THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN UNNATURALLY are the effect of frustration. So to me it seems being afraid to use your real name is the effect of being aware you’re unable to support your opinion. And I analyse this as an unnatural attitude for the simple reason that in real life neither do we use masks, nor do we use false names when stating our opinions, UNLESS WE REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM. Why should the virtual space be different? Because we can’t control the audience and millions of people have the opportunity to reply instantly? So what if they disagree with us? So what if we lose the argument? Is anonymity a way of fending off failure? Failure is natural, is part of the human nature. The inability to cope with failure is not natural at all.
