Since my comment started this heated debate let me clarify to all the smokers that have called me names and gotten so angry with me. I DONT CARE IF YOU SMOKE!!! I am only trying to get you to realize that somebody in your life is going to miss you, need you and hurt when you die from a smoking related illness. And thats somthing you will never be able to make them feel better for, because their hurt will be forever.

People will just get tobacco illegally. If someone wants to smoke bad enough, they will. Look at drug addicts... That's illegal, and addicts still exist!

The best way to go about it is EDUCATION. People need to know everything there is to know about WHY smoking is harmful. Sure, we learned about it in health class in school, but listening to a teacher rag on about it doesn't help always. Bring in someone with emphysema, COPD, lung cancer, a tube in their throat, lip cancer that was removed.. nose cancer. Smokers need those terrifying visuals.

My visual? Watching my dad suffer with lung cancer. Being at his side at home when the horrible sickness took his last breath from him.

What did I do? stopped smoking immediately. I've since started again, and there is no "good excuse" other than lack of willpower... but I smoke less and less every day (down to 3/ day, and only in the damn car...) because I don't want my kids to lose me when they are 16 like I was.

I am very happy, someone I love with all my heart is making a big effort trying to quit, and I will be more and more and more happy after that happens!!!
