Tulsa Historical Society Almost as soon as Tulsa became a town, baseball was being played. In 1893, small town teams were formed, with Tulsa playing against its neighbors from Sapulpa, Bartlesville, and Claremore. Businesses even closed at 3:30 p.m. for 4:00 p.m. games.
