CLEWISTON:Animal rescue teams descended on a cat sanctuary in Hendry County. The NBC2 Investigators were the first to break the story of unsanitary living conditions at the 10th Life Sanctuary.

The City of LaBelle Animal Control department has accepted custody of approximately 600 cats following the closure of the Tenth Life Sanctuary in Hendry County.

University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine UF's VETS Disaster Response and Maddie's Shelter Medicine teams will provide critical support next week to Hendry County Animal Control in response to the closing of 10th Life Cat Sanctuary. VETS will provide incident command leadership and will direct, equip and staff medical operations. Other key agencies and vets fr...om surrounding counties will assist in providing veterinary assessments to approximately 600 cats.
