UMKC University Libraries The Blue Roo has taken up residence with Michael Brown. Some may see Michael as underappreciated, because he spends much of his time toiling away in the confines of the Receiving Room. But when he does get out to the other parts of the library, he always has a smile and good word for everybody. Neither snow nor rain no...r heat nor gloom of morning stays this courier from the swift completion of his appointed rounds to Hospital Hill and to various locations around Miller Nichols to pick up and deliver mail. He’s also currently a member of the Staff Development Committee, and so he’s an important resource for the University Libraries’ various parties and celebrations. Congratulation's and thank you Michael!

Brenda Bethman An interesting article on making library content mobile.

www.insidehighered.com
How will academic libraries make sure that their content is available on a 3.5-inch mobile device? Should this even be a goal of the academic library? This week the NYTimes wrote about the rapid growth of reading platforms, and reading, on cellphones and other mobile platforms. ...

Interesting to see this article today as, just yesterday I (@Mark Mattison) attended a session w/ the guy who ran social media for Obama's campaign -- as it relates to the library, my #1 take away from that session was that we have be building content (& catalog search tools) that are viewable/usable on handheld devices as they are becoming people's primary connection to the Web.

I really enjoyed Sandy's talk. I especially loved hearing the sound bite from the radio interview with Albert Einstein.
