Can anyone recommend a Dr in St. Louis area? The last ID doc I saw doesn't believe in Lyme in Missouri. I have an appt with a rheumatologist, but not very optimistic. My PCP told me she doesn't understand what is happening with me. Also, I bought the DVD recently. Awesome movie -- yet scary.

Hi Tina - Did you go to the ILADS (Int'l Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) website? That's where I found my local LLMD (and she has been a GOD-SEND), as I could not continue the monthly commutes to my Lyme Doc in NYC - I live in the DC Metro Area - (the doc in NYC 1st diagnosed me, afer going to specialist to specialist to specialist over a 4 ... See Moreyear period, including a Rheumatologist. My GP doesn't really believe Lyme is a "real" disease either. He thinks 2 weeks on antibiotics should do it, and if not, then it's not Lyme.) I'm in the course of switching to a GP recommended by my LLMD. I also went to 4 renowned ID's in the area, all affiliated w/ very, very reputable teaching hospitals both in No. VA and DC, just to get the same "conventional" answer - 2-4 weeks of oral antibx &, again, if that doesn't do it, then it's not Lyme). I don't offer advice, just experience, strength and hope from my own experiences. I would say get in w/ an LLMD, and ASAP. They are the only ones who "get it", and are extremely supportive. There is so much more advocacy and education that needs to be done, and sometimes, that can only be done by non-sick people with more time, energy, and stamina, as lymies need to focus on survival and looking for treatments that ...
