Ocean State Summer Writing Conference What is the top health feature on the MSNBC.com site today? Recent conference speaker and URI alum Patrick Tracey and his family. His new book "_Stalking Irish Madness,_ traces the roots of his family’s mental
illness to the same town in Ireland where a genetic link to
schizophrenia was first pinpointed."

Mental health professionals have long known that certain mental illnesses can run within families — and that history weighs heavily on some people who are struggling to decide whether to have children and risk passing it on.

S...eptember is the bittersweet month...
Come listen and read poetry in a lovely community garden in Providence! After our great evening at the gazebo in Narragansett Pier last month, we are lucky to have another and perhaps a last for the season, outside poetry event. Did you ever notice how food tastes better outdoors? and music sounds better sitting beneath the blue sky. The same is true for poetry. Plan on coming to Providence on Saturday, September 26th, at [4 P.M.] bring something to drink if you wish and a poem to read during the open mic. The garden is located in the Armory District and I will publish directions very shortly.
