The performances were superb, and how the judges were able to narrow the field to three winners and an alternate is beyond us. Congratulations to all the players and a special hand to the winners: Chris Lennard, marimba; Gabriel Manalac, piano; Jessica Polin, flute, and (alternate) Xiaojing Pu, violin.

A zither by any other name might just be a gayaguem, which Ethnomusicology Visiting Artist Bora Ju wields with exceptional grace and abililty.
