United Way of Greater Cincinnati's Youth Engaged in Service (YES) connects high school students from Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky in the spirit of volunteerism. Members receive hands-on experience by participating in monthly projects.

Youth Engaged in Service (YES) Are you looking for something to do over your Christmas break? The Freestore Foodbank needs volunteers (16 and older) to help with Christmas Holiday Operations. On December 21 – 23, volunteers will collect donations and pack, distribute and transport food for the Holiday Operations program. Volunteers needed Mon & Tues... 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Tues, 4 - 6:30 p.m. and Weds 1 – 4:30 p.m. If you would like to help brighten the holidays for a family in need, call Margaret Walker at 513-482-7543 or margwalker@freestorefoodbank.org or sign up below.

Youth Engaged in Service (YES) In the spirit of the holidays, YES members volunteered put together a holiday party for Brighton Center’s Every Child Succeeds program on December 15, 2009. The group provided a lasagna dinner, which fed over 150 people, helped distribute gifts and decorate cookies, and prepared and cleaned the room.

Every Child Succe...eds is a home visitation program for first time parents in Campbell and Boone Counties. The program encourages positive parent-child interaction, increases child-health indicators, and increases the percentage of children with normal or above normal development.

The value contributed to this project through volunteer time and materials was $1,180.

Youth Engaged in Service (YES) On Saturday, November 7, 2009, YES Members joined by several members of Public Allies Cincinnati raked leaves for senior homeowners assisted by Sycamore Senior Center.

Sycamore Senior Center allows older adults to live their lives with independence and dignity for as long as possible in their own homes. Center programs... include education, health screenings, exercise and wellness programs, travel, social activities, computer training, hot lunches and volunteer opportunities.

The value contributed to this project through volunteer time and materials was $1,240.

Youth Engaged in Service (YES) On October 29, 15 YES members helped prepare spaghetti dinner for the mothers and children living at Bethany House Services.

Bethany House Services provides housing, education and assistance programs to homeless and disadvantaged women and children.

While there, the volunteers also assembled goody bags and spent quali...ty time playing, reading and drawing with the kids.

The value contributed to this project through volunteer time and materials was more than $1,000.
