The Portsmouth Garden Club and the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands-Urban Forestry Center join together every other year, on odd numbered years, to organize The Festival of Trees. This delightful display of holiday exhibits, both indoors and... out, brings over 5,000 people from all over New England to New Hampshire’s Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth. Businesses, professionals, schools, artists, and individuals are invited to participate and there are approximately 100 exhibits displayed throughout the Urban Forestry grounds.
The funds raised are used to support the Festival of Trees Scholarships and Grants, to assist conservation education, to support historic gardens in the Seacoast area, and to support club activities. Every garden club member commits to participate and support this 3 day event. Committees are formed and planning begins 10 months prior to the event.
The first Festival of Trees was held in 1983 and has become a much anticipated holiday event in Portsmouth. We are proud that we have been able to maintain the Festival as a non-commercial, fun filled family event.
