It is not too late to get a flu shot for this year!

2011-2012 has the latest start of the "flu season" in nearly 30 years. Confirmed cases of over 10%, considered a marker of the beginning of flu season, did not occur until the week of Feb 4.

The timing of flu seasons is unpredictable and can vary in terms of when the season starts, when it peaks and when it ends. Flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May.

CDC estimates that influenza virus infections in the United States result in an average of more than 200,000 related hospitalizations, and between 3,300 to 49,000 deaths each year, depending upon the severity of the influenza season.

A recent outbreak of scarlet fever around Emporia and an even more recent outbreak of whooping cough in Manhattan makes it hard to defend a bill that was brought before the Kansas legislature a couple weeks ago asking to widen the exemptions for childhood vaccines to include a parent or guardian’s p...

Did you know that hot tap water accounts for nearly 25% of all scald burns among children and is associated with more deaths and hospitalizations than any other hot liquid burns?
