Although I very rarily use the Franconia-Springfield metro rail station, it is an excellent idea. It is still the time of the year that you can get several brisk walks in, because it is not too hot or too cold. Enjoy.

Metro: while you're working at Archives, how about finishing the escalator? I have yet to see a single person working on it, yet the completion date just changed to September 2009 to October 2009.

Clarifications? Maybe about why you were so stupid as to schedule closing the DCA Airport station on a BUSY travel weekend?

Today around 430pm I was traveling on the blue line in the direction of largo. The train was going to fast as it approached the Benning rd metro station and was unable to stop within the station. This was actually my first time in about a year riding metro and if I can help it it will be the last.

You all really need to get the system together. People lifes depend on you!

Too much jargon. What is a block? What is F246TPR? Someone at Metro needs media training.

In defense of Metro, it's pretty hard to explain something this technical to a layman. Media savy Metro employees are not technical savy employees and so it is in reverse. It's sort of like explaining how a computer or television works to someone who only knows how to turn it on and off. I retired from Metro and was a technician, but not a train control technician, and even explaining it to me was sometimes Greek. What Metro needs is more modern train control equipment not more media training.

A block is a section of track, pure & simple. Some are long, some are short. A basic premise is that only one train can be in any single block at one time.

DC Metro system is not that old compared to other transits systems around the country, and yet no matter how much much they pump into it (and raise the fares) it seems to get no better. For a transit system so young, its failing misery in service and overall upkeep.

I LOVE NEXTBUS. Forget the schedule, we've always known they run off sked anyway, so meterobusexposed.com doesn't reveal anything new. Just use this great new tool to know when your bus is coming and get on it! Been great for me, knowing when to leave apt, or on slow train days if it's faster for me to wait for train transfer at L'Enfent or go to street and grab the NextBus. Has saved me 15-20 min waiting time several times already!

Next Bus does not work well for the H4-H3 route. Half the buses scheduled are not tracked. 82 minutes until the next bus going to Brookland stops at Connecticut and Porter? The buses run every half hour! This is no accurate and not useful. Please keep working on improving the system.
