
Southwest Florida Water Management District The District sponsored its first Water Matters Day at the Pirates vs. Yankees spring training game in Bradenton on Monday, March 8. More than 4,000 people attended the game and the first 2,000 people received a free shower timer.

Southwest Florida Water Management District Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night. The time change is also a good time to check the timer on your irrigation system to make sure you're watering during the allowable hours. Unless your city or county has stricter hours, watering is currently allowed once per week before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

Despite the soggy weather, the event was a great opportunity for Polk and Pasco county residents to come out and get to know the property, and participate in a variety of family-friendly activities.

Gregg Hilferding  Troop 311 - San Antonio, Florida & Troop 72 - Zephyrhills, Florida set up a camping demonstration at the Southwest Florida Water Management District "Get Outside!" event this weekend. They put on these events a few times each year and we had a lot of fun. There was heavy equipment demonstrations and lots of family-frie...ndly activities. No controlled-burn though. :'( Maybe next time! :D

Students get to visit either Sawgrass Lake Park or Brooker Creek Preserve to learn about the parks’ watersheds, trees, plants, birds and other wildlife. Southwest Florida Water Management District The first public workshop to gather community input on the unprecedented January 2010 frost/freeze event is tonight at the HCC Plant City Campus Trinkle Center from 6-9 p.m. Residents, growers and members of the community are encouraged to come out and express their opinions and ideas on how to manage future freeze events.

Lowered aquifer levels as a result of recent frost/freeze events in the eastern Hillsborough County area have led to complaints of dry wells. Anyone who has a dry well that he or she believes is caused by the frost/freeze events should take the following steps:
