They should have asked the crowds to leave and permitted the event to play out naturally. Probably would have been the most satisfied thos lions have been in years and what nobler death for a deer than that? Being hit by a car on Rock Creek? Poor lions (unfulfilled). Poor deer (euthanized!). Poor humans (spectator sport? ugh, what are we Romans? ....don't answer that).
