Georgette Lang Does anyone know what happened to the dogs from the horrible hoarding that went to St Clements? I don't believe they have a pound and there is no contact info on the net for a pound and no info about the dogs. I am concerned they were put down.

Lauren Litchie I don't suppose you have any kind payment plan do you? I REALLY would like to adopt daisy, the 4 month old kitten that had her leg amputated. I have to have her :)

The Winnipeg Humane Society
On July 16 and 17, we took part in one of the worst dog seizures many people have ever experienced. Sixty-four dogs were seized by the Province of Manitoba from a private property in the Gull Lake area. Our team of Winnipeg Humane Society staff could never have prepared themselves for what they saw when the dogs arri...ved at the shelter. The dogs were covered in feces, dirt and garbage; many had open wounds and/or serious medical conditions; they were unsocialzed, terrified and several of them, mentally shut down.
Everyone worked well into the night on Friday and tirelessly on Saturday, bringing the dogs into the building one by one. The condition of each dog was photographed before they were examined and vaccinated by a team of veterinarians. We did whatever we could to make the dogs feel as comfortable as possible—we bathed overheated dogs in cool water, we gently helped them walk by tucking towels under their legs, we cleaned their wounds and treated any pressing medical concerns, and we gave them a safe and quiet place to rest.
For two weeks The Winnipeg Humane Society acted as a housing and care facility for the dogs while the legalities of the seizure were worked out by the Province. Staff fed, bathed (often shaved) and cared for the dogs until the province was able to officially turn some of the dogs over to us. We are now working with the dogs to assess who may be put up for adoption shortly and who will need more time before finding a safe and happy home. Some of the dogs will need months of rehabilitation, they will all need to be spayed or neutered, and many have long roads of medical treatment ahead.
Interested in Adopting?
The 25 dogs that the province assessed and handed over to us are considered to have a good chance of being adoptable. We don’t know when they will be ready for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting one of the rescued dogs, your name will be chosen at random (via a draw) only after a completed adoption survey has been submitted to us and approved by our adoption department.
You can download the survey here. We recommend you complete and submit the survey for approval as soon as possible because we are not yet sure when we will begin putting the dogs up for adoption.
Please call our adoption department at 982-2035 if you have further questions on this process.

The Winnipeg Humane Society Meet Daisy. When she came to us at the shelter she was missing part of her back leg and wasn't able to use it. Our WHS medical team preformed a full leg amputation on her and she has been recovering from the surgery in a foster home. At four months old, she is as normal as any kitten will ever be and loves to run, jump, play and most of all, cuddle!

Jay B Hanson have seen suggestions before but how about creating a foster album where people can see who is coming up! also how about creating a special case needed foster album for dogs like Paisley who are now in the back room per your early response - maybe someone wonderful like Asmara who is working with Zefer would step forward, i'm full up with fosters or I would.

Donna Borgal Is there still space available in the Aug 30 first aid class???

Barry Smith I have noticed recently that the noise level resulting from heavy traffic in Kitty Kat Way has become overwhelming with people coming into the WHS. Is there not something that can be done so that this area is more than a petting zoo? Why can't people be encouraged to complete adoption forms prior to entering these ro...oms similar to that of the cat condo area? From experience, more than not, people are coming in to browse and not interested in providing a good home to the already stressed felines in that area. The people coming into the Kitty Kat Way do not realize that an already stressed out cat spells disaster. Please find an alternative whereby it is safer for all involved. The felines deserve better.

Elaine Clairmont I hope that someone comes down to WHS and falls in love with Jade, Paisley or Lily. They all look even cuter in person. Jade has such a nice smile and she sits so nicely for her treats. Paisley has learned a lot since she's been here. Lily is a staff favourite. Just remember that the shelter is a busy, noisy place an...d most dogs don't show as well in their pods. Take them out for a bit to see their true personalities. These poor dogs have been here for so long now. Please give them a second chance at love.
