Working Families Party

Working Families Party Registration is open: a conference for online organizers, supporters of fairness and equality for all New Yorkers.

Is online organizing really ‘organizing’? That’s a challenging question for those of us from a labor or community organizing background. That said, online organizing has received a lot of positive attention recently in connection with the presidential elections. ...

Working Families Party We beat the odds on Nov. 3rd, and made a difference across New York State. Watch out 2010!

We defied the odds on election night -- and together, we sent a clear message that our elected leaders need to put New York City's working families first.More people voted on the Working Families Party ballot line than in any New York City election in our party's history.

Shocking New Study: Half of NYC Without Paid Sick Days

I think it is ridiculous that there are still businesses that don't allow paid sick days although I worked at plenty of them in the past. It seems that, especially with the swine flu going around, we would want sick people to stay home rather than come to work and infect others. The firm that I work for would much rather pay an employee for staying home sick than have them come into work and get others sick.

Working Families Party Fired for catching a cold... http://bit.ly/2B7pdR Daily News and NY Times highlight the need for NYC paid sick days bill.
Seriously folks. We might actually ensure that more than a million NYC'ers win the right to stay home when they are sick. This is huge.

There are some examples out there of this being done at the city level - but not at the state level. We'll get to state level someday....

And why is our Billionaire Mayor Bloomberg not yet on board? (yes, yes; his flacks say he supports the concept; but in fact he has not supported Council Member Gail Brewer's bill. )

Working Families Party Right after moving to Bed Stuy, Mark Winston Griffith showed up at the first meeting of my block association. New York is a big city, but still small enough that you can meet local candidates quite easily.
What's your election or candidate story?
