XBMC 9.04 (Babylon) Beta 1 released! Hot on the heals of the Alpha 1 release, and some 350 code fixes later, the first (and only?) Beta release of XBMC Media Center 9.04 (codename: Babylon) is now available. New in this release is support for PPC (PowerPC) processors under Mac OS X, thanks to Team-XBMC’s new developer Beenje. XBMC 8.10 (codename: Atlantis) Final Released!
Team-XBMC is proud to announce the cross-platform release of XBMC Media Center version 8.10 for Linux, Mac OS X (Leopard, Tiger, and Apple TV), Windows, and Xbox, code named ‘Atlantis‘.
We have reached the end of over 3-months of bug bashing, and have closed 425 tickets for this Gold version release and, while there are still some bugs outstanding, we feel that ‘Atlantis’ is reasonably stable, and thus it is time to move on and get cracking on new features. We have branched for release, and will maintain this branch with critical bug fixes while we move on and begin working on new features in the main linuxport SVN trunk.
Thanks goes to everyone in the XBMC community who have made this possible by reporting bugs and suggesting improvements.
Go grab XBMC ‘Atlantis’ and let us know how it goes!

Yours sincerely / Team-XBMC

XBMC wins another SourceForge Community Choice Award
XBMC media center were nominated as finalist in this years SourceForge Community Choice Awards (CCA) in no less than seven categories, among those "Most Likely to Change the World" (awarded to Linux) and "Best Project for Multimedia" (awarded to VLC). The winners were announced at a party held as part of OSCON and XBMC won the award for "Best Project for Gamers". The "Best Project" award went to OpenOffice (which was overall winner taking home three awards in total).
Guess XBMC is still more known as that cool media center software which you can run for free on the old Xbox game-console, Most people seem to have missed the news that during the past 12-months XBMC developers been porting XBMC to other platforms so that XBMC now also runs nativly on Linux, Mac and Windows. Now that XBMC is going beyond the original Xbox platform we hope many more users will use XBMC, and hopefully next year XBMC be able to win other categories.
