Butch Lombardi I'm posting my red leaves again...forgot to watermark the last one and took it down. This was taken this morning, 11-22-09...around 7:30 am..

Susan

Susan I'm POSITIVE that sparkling white, fluffy snow is right around the corner! Dusting the branches of the hemlocks and turning the forests into magic. Common, guys, there's always something to look forward to in New England!

What a great shot Sue....I love those kinds of snow storms that are soft and the snow clings to everything...

Jeff Foliage I'll see your pin cherry and I'll raise you one gold maple leaf... I also saw a maple in downtown Salem this afternoon that still had about half of it's leaves... The Friendship of Salem came back in from dry dock and I got out to Winter island a few minutes before it sailed past. a great day to be out and freezing... :-)

I went for a ride then a walk this morning. Found a little pond in East Providence, along Narragansett Bay. It had a flock of American Widgeons and Hooded Mergansers, both are heading south. The Widgeons will be gone soon but the Mergansers will stay for the winter. They brighten up drab days. There is still color arou...nd here, just look at the relfection the Mergansers are swimming in....:)....Linda...more Mergansers for you...Read More

Lisa is coming to grips with the approaching winter.. She was out clipping the last few blooms on our rose bush and a flock of Geese flew over honking for everyone to get out of their way...
Only 30 days until the winter solstice and then they only get longer after that... Come on folks the power of positive thought...

Early morning light coming from behind me helped out with what's left of the color. I was trying to get the birds in the most colorful part of the pond with some sun on them. They don't always cooperate but in this instance they obliged

Jeff Foliage I went for a walk this morning while the sun was out and I bagged this very pretty little leaf... It was beautiful out and I took an hour to walk half a mile to the store. Lisa thought I got lost... I just shrugged and said I had my camera with me... :-) That explains it all...

In October, you would have missed it. But in late November, it's precious. How beautiful!

Yes. I snapped this one Oct. 22nd. I would have had a little better shot except for a tour bus was parked in my way. Sorry these photos are kinda late. I have not had the time to go thru all of my photos from the trip. I put them up when ever I see one that looks good.

Many friends that I've known, who were hunters, when they reach an advanced age give it up. They can't kill and I think as they start looking at mortality they realize how sacred lfe is...any life...and they just can't do it anymore...ok I getting off my soap box now...:)

I was picking up the last of my leaves today. I was walking out to my driveway when I spooked a hawk. I went back for the camera but when I came out he was gone. The sparrows in the hedge were still raising hell so I waited. Suddenly he came up out of my neighbor's yard to the top of the hedge. He couldn't get the spar...rows and they were trapped and couldn't leave. This ballet last for about 20 mins. After a while every time he dropped into my neighbors yard a few sparrows would make a rune for it. Little by little in small groups they got away. After they were gone they hawk left, but not before I got some great shots. There are more on my website www.eastbayimages.zenfolio.com in the Shot of the Day Gallery. I'm pretty sure this was an immature Sharp Shinned Hawk. His hunting technique was not the greatest so it's probably a first year fledgling. For the last color competition....note the red leaves on the hedge.Read More

Actually, I used to have a carriage for my cats... Thought it would be nice to take them for walks in the neighborhood. After a particularly contentious trip to the ice cream store, they convinced me it wasn't a good idea, so I gave the carriage to a friend whose cat had just had ACL surgery. Just to prove that you don't have to go very far to find nuts :)

I believe this picture was taken in North Conway or Bartlett on 302 on the East side of the White Mtns. Butch, w e are from Wichita Kansas area. We drove approximately 2000 miles around before we arrived at our B & B in North Woodstock, N.H. On our trip, my wife and I traveled for 30 days thru 21 states and covered 5500 miles round trip.
