Young House Love just finished assembling all of our Ikea stuff for the big basement update post tomorrow. Nothing like squeezing it all in by 9:44pm the night before...

How many cuss words did you utter during assembly? Be honest. LOL

Fortunately this was a pretty low-stress aseembly night. So there were probably only a few "craps" in there.

Laura Monpas Grodevant

Laura Monpas Grodevant Your house is an absolute inspiration! Any suggestions on paint color for cabinets when your stuck with white appliances for the time being? I wanted white but affraid it will be to much....I really like neutrals, and will be getting new countertops as well. Opinions? Anyone?

We love crisp white cabinets with white appliances- the whole idea of a white kitchen is always so chic (plus it helps appliances blend in instead of sticking out). Of course you could go with a soft tan or a buttery cream tone too, but nothing gets us going like white on white! Especially if you go with textured marble counters (you can even go dark for high contrast) or even wood butcher block tops for a cottage chic look. Hope it helps!

Rachel Baker Our half bath inspired by yours! Took us a lot longer than expected especially since one of the walls curve, but definitely worth it! Thanks for the great idea! We move in to our house this weekend and I cant wait to see how your botanical prints look in our bedroom!

Painting was the easy part, it was the taping that took the longest. We had a hard time because there is a curve in the wall that you cant see in this picture (in front of the toilet) so we couldnt use the laser level to keep our lines straight. Instead, we got a piece of paper and marked the edge of it with the correct height of our stripes, ... Read Morepressed it against the wall and made a dot on the wall next to mark on the paper and did this every few inches around the curve.. make sense? We did have to do a few touch ups to get rid of some pencil marks. It was worth the hard work though, we love it!

Kelly Becker I posted below in the original link post, but couldn't upload my picture. Here are my goodies from the grab bag you posted about from Bright and Bold.

Kelly Becker

Kelly Becker I finally found the perfect spot for my coral print I ordered from your shop. I love it and the Ikea frame is perfect for it! I put scrapbook paper in the frames next to the print, and every now and then change them out.

Julie Dietz Holton

Julie Dietz Holton Must everyone be a critic?? I painted a test patch of beige paint on my dining room wall today...and the dog stopped and looked at it...and barked! Dont' think she liked it! :)

Ha! We'd like to see Burger try to pick out the perfect color. Sheesh. Well, on second thought, that's probably not a good idea...

Not about decorating usually, but he does appreciate whenever we add a carpet so he's got less wood floor to slide on.

Shelly Buster Pope

Shelly Buster Pope Question... If your kitchen opens to your living room and your living room to another room should you paint all rooms the same color? Or could you paint the kitchen a color and then the other two a different color? Thanks! I love your blog!

You can either paint them all the same color for a super open and expansive look that we love or slide one square up or down the paint swatch to use a coordinating color that's lighter or darker for one of the adjoining areas. Then bring in fun pops of color and accessories to keep things from feeling too bland. Hope it helps!

Denise Letendre Stark

Denise Letendre Stark Do you guys have any tips to antique/hand rub after painting? I want to paint an old, crusty (but good design) hutch a cream and then make the corners/crevices a darker color. Does that make sense????

Yup, makes total sense. We don't have a tutorial for that yet but you might have some luck using a rag to hand rub the darker color over the base coat (once it's fully dry). If you keep a wet sponge or rag on hand you can blend it a bit and fade it so it feels like a more controlled application. And if anyone else has tips we'd love for them to chime in. Hope it helps!

Hannah dunno if you guys are going to exchange the halloween decor for fall decor, but if you're interested, our local walmart had small pumpkins, gourds, and indian corn for a penny (yes, a penny!) a piece. we walked out of the store with 118 different items for only $1.18!
