Alice Wang Btw,how can i join performance arts?is that only for students who have performance art for their majors?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
We do have options for students who are not theatre/art majors to take the classes offered in those departments. You should speak to your academic adviser at orientation to see what classes are available for you.

Matt Kantro

Matt Kantro I am transferring in this year starting fall semester and am wondering if tuition rates get locked in after your first semester. Meaning, do they stay the same as what they were your first year or do they increase every year?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Matt. the University of Iowa does not lock it's tuition. The state Board of Regents decides each year if, and by how much, tuition may increase.

Alisha Staudt

Alisha Staudt If we are living in Mayflower will we know who our suitemates are before we move in?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
You should be notified who you will be sharing the room with, but you may not know who your suitemates are until you move in. Give a call into the Housing office and they may be able to tell you.
Ashley Harney

Ashley Harney i have a question.. i am transferring to Iowa and i just looked on my isis account and it says that they need a copy of my final transcript.. can i fax it or do i have to send it by mail?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Ashley, it needs to be an official copy of your transcript, which means it must be sent directly from the school.
University of Iowa Admissions Office
If you applied before the June 1 deadline, then you can still be admitted once we have your information. If you did not, please give a call into admissions to discuss other options.
Marissa Hartman

Marissa Hartman i found out that i am in rienow and i got my room number and i was just wondering, what floor is room 1246 on?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Marissa, if I'm not mistaken room 1246 would be on the 12th floor of Rienow. Looks like move in may be a little difficult, but you sure will have a great view of campus from your window!

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Emma, we are not aware of any host family opportunities that are set up through the university or Orientation Services. However, if you are coming for a two day program then you will have the option of staying in one of our residence halls for the night of the program. Questions on lodging for Orientation should be directed to Orientation Services at 319-335-1497

Shannon Rose

Shannon Rose Hi i was just wondering if it was too late to change your housing application. I applied for housing in january and i didnt know if it was too late to switch around my 2 and 3 preferences for dorms

University of Iowa Admissions Office
---Hi Shannon, I would suggest that you call over to the Contracts and Assignements Office 319-335-3009 to see if you can still make those changes. Typically you can unless you have already been assigned a room-

Caitlin Fry

Caitlin Fry Hello, I recently emailed the admissions office about transferring credits and it has been a couple of days and I was wondering if maybe the office didn't get it or if I should just call? I just want to know as soon as possible since registration for the class I am looking to take is coming closer and closer! Thanks!

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Caitlin, many times our counselors are busy and sometimes an email slips through the cracks. If you need to sign up for these classes soon, then please give one of our counselors a call. The Admissions Visitors Center number is 319-335-1566.
Kevin Rosenberg

Kevin Rosenberg hey, in junior high I took 2 years of spanish and because of teacher referrals I began in second year spanish as a freshman. I continued to take spanish up until my junior year when I was in level 4 spanish, but opted to not take AP spanish senior year. Can I still place out of spanish?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Kevin, since you reached the fourth level in high school you will have completed our foreign language requirement for graduation. So if you don't want to take Spanish any longer, you don't have to!
Alex Pim

Alex Pim I made living learning communities last on my preferences, but still am in one. Are they just for people who are doing the same major as me? I am in the community service one at hillcrest and don't know if I should stay in it.

University of Iowa Admissions Office
The Service Living Learning Community does not have a specific major requirement to live in. However, all of the other students who are living in that community will also be interested in community service and volunteer work (which is hopefully why you chose that LLC)
University of Iowa Admissions Office

University of Iowa Admissions Office Hey business and pre-business majors--The Tippie College of Business has created some Facebook pages you might be interested in. Here is the main page:

Taylor Lynn

Taylor Lynn Hi,
I applied for housing a long time ago in the fall when i registerd but when we got the WISE information in the mail my parents wanted me to be in it. This doesnt change your dorming does it?I thought it was just a program to be in.Its not like a living learning community is it because i did not want to be in that!

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Taylor, the WISE floor is indeed a Living Learning Community. Depending on how you filled out your housing, the LLC that you choose could take preference over other factors (such as building or room type). If you would like to remove yourself from the WISE list, please give a call into housing at 319-335-3009 or fill out a change of housing form from http://housing.uiowa.edu/index.htm
Al Brown

Al Brown Hey i am a biochem major, and I haven't took the chemistry placement test yet, i was wondering if I should take the test or not. I wasn't going to take it because when I took the math placement test, it said those scores could also determine my science class also, but just in case should I take the chem test?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
You should definitely take the Chemistry Diagnostic Test (CDT) before coming to orientation. While the Math Placement Test can be used to help decide on the level of chem you will take, the CDT is the most important factor.
University of Iowa Admissions Office
Depends on your orientation date. Call Orientation Services at 319-335-1497.

Qing Jin There's no place for me to enroll in Iowa writer, is there any chance for me to enroll in any other community I have choose before?
Thank you~

Caitlin
Caitlin
the Iowa Writer's living learning community has already been picked... and if you want to be in any other community you had to designate that on your housing application.
University of Iowa Admissions Office
You have the option to select a living learning community on your housing application. If you already submitted that application through your Admissions Profile on ISIS you can make changes to it by downloading a change of housing form at http://housing.uiowa.edu/index.htm

Kelsey

Kelsey Hey, I had requested a single room but I want to change to room with someone who I now know who is going to Iowa. Is there a good chance that we could still get a room together and be in our highest preference dorms? We both applied for housing very early so would us wanting to room together affect that at all?

University of Iowa Admissions Office
Hi Kelsey. If you now request each other as roommates, it could impact your ability to get your first-choice residence hall because your assignment will be made based on the date the latest housing application was received (yours or hers). Send an email to reshall-housing@uiowa.edu explaining your request (include your names). They may be able to predict your odds of ending up in your first-choice dorm, but they can't and won't guarantee roommates or residence halls. Good luck!
