I remember very clearly learning to ride a bicycle. I lived at the end of a gravel road, and my little legs had a hard time gathering enough strength to push the wheels of my hand-me-down bicycle forward...
Kevin Schilt

Kevin Schilt I am working with Ginny Sullivan in trying to establish a USBRS Route from St. Louis to Louisville using Illinois route 161 and extension 161 (country route) route in Southern Illinois and would like input and would like to know if you come through on this route. Maybe we can make your trip pleasant.

The chain looks a little loose on the camper bike. What would be the low gear to move that rig along?

One trait many touring cyclists share is that they are not fair weathered riders. Even in the most predictable of climates, predicting the weather can make fools of us all, and I've been in that camp many times over...

I think it depends where you're riding. Here in Alberta fenders are usually a waste of money...it is desert climate. Touring in British Columbia, Ontario or Quebec...I wouldn't be without them.

Love my fenders. They keep me and the gear clean in rain. I have used them for several years and been most happy with them.

If you've used our route maps you know they are chock full of useful information. We attempt to include camping, lodging, and food source information in a 10 mile wide corridor (5 miles each side of the route) along with library and bike shop locations...

We do include laundry facilities on the maps when we know about them.

Actually, we don't list laundry facilities on the maps. You would be surprised how frequently those businesses come and go, are difficult to locate and keep track of. Our guess is that enough campgrounds offer those facilities that the listings would become redundant. If not available, cyclists are pretty ingenious about handling this aspect of touring, often using sinks and showers. .JHM.

Richard Tulloch

Richard Tulloch OK, if you've only got a short holiday in Europe, cycling round Denmark may not be top of your list. But the Danes are almost as bike-crazy as the Dutch, so it's a great country to ride in, with super bike infrastructure. Here's my take on one bit of it:
