Romania, 1953. Iancu and Mara are about to get married. The whole village is working on preparations for the wedding. The death of Stalin prompts a mandatory week of mourning, and cancellation of their wedding. All festivities are prohibited, but the newlyweds and their guests figure out a way to have a secret, "silent..." wedding, to avoid detection and continue the party.
