Bernard Cole II I am proud with working in conjuction with the Maine AFL-CIO and being a member of AFSME Council 93 Policy Board Member. I am new to this, however lobbing the Senators and Legislators was a start and I was treated with respect. Some issues we are looking at in Maine are: Paid Sick Days, Fixing the Unemployment System/s...ick and vacation days delays your checks! Mis-Classified workers and the Power grid project. I enjoyed working with the AFL-CIO Corrodinator and look forward to working with and serving the State of Maine work force when it is possible. I work full-time so the work I have done so far has been on a total volunteer basis and trying to do the right thing for Maine Workers.

Matt, you would probably have to raise taxes, especially on large businesses. Overall, even with a tax increase individuals and businesses would likely save money due to Medicare for All having cheaper overhead costs than private insurers, so tax costs would be cheaper than premium costs. Of course it would take a zombie apocalypse sized disaster ... See Moreto raise taxes in this country, even if the tax hike would save everyone money. Tax is pretty much a 4 letter word in the US since the days of Reagan.

Rep. Grayson's Medicare bill would be revenue neutral because any new enrollees voluntarily joining Medicare would be paying their own way via premiums, eliminating any need for finding additional funding.

Matt: There is no answer.
Nancy Pelosi claims we can cut $500b waste and fraud from Medicare. If that is possible, why did she ignore it so long. (Ignoring fraud is a felony).
Another $50b is supposed to come from government takeover of student loans. Since when is the government cheaper?
Uninsured people are supposed to buy insurance or will be fined by the IRS. Good luck collecting.
The balance will come from higher taxes.... See More
Rich people can always find loopholes or move.
That leaves us paying for most of the bill.

GAIN A LITTLE NOW. THEN IN YEARS TO COME GAIN A LITTLE THEN. MAYBR WHEN THE TEENAGERS OF TODAY SEE THE PUBLIC OPTION WHEN THEY HAVE TEENAGERS OF THEIR OWN. ALTHOUGH LEFT LEANING PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF WONT BE COMPLETLY SATISFIED WITH THE END RESULT, ALOT OF GOOD THINGS WILL COME OUT OF THIS.

If we really want control of Wall Street & medical reform and allowing labor to have a chance to organize, etc., etc., then we really do need CHANGE in our government. We need to fix a broken system that has some real basic systemic problems that need to be addressed. (1) We don't need a House of Lords that stops all legislative action. We need a ... See Moreunicameral legislature like the state of Nebraska. We still don't have adequate legal control over derivatives which are the instruments that caused the financial meltdown. (2) If we truly desire a democracy, we need to get rid of the Electoral College. (3) If we really want a turnover in the legislature & a Congress that is responsive to the will of the electorate, we need to get rid of gerrymandering. Perhaps set up districting as part of the Census bureau functions. (4) All judges need to be appointed. The result of the latest Supreme court ruling on electoral financing puts way too much power in the hands of corporations. We will never get away from political influence in the Courts, but having judges at the state level being elected gives the corporations too much influence because of campaign contributions - e.g. Louisiana environmental laws may not be enforced due to the Courts throwing out a way for poor people to get representation by Law school students. Government works well in a lot of places, but it is breaking down in the U.S. Because no one seems to be seriously talking regulation in the American Congress, our government is becoming the laughing stock of Europe. The medical reform effort speaks for itself.

The Senate today passed a jobs bill that AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka calls “good start” in helping the nation’s workers climb out of the 11-million-deep jobs hole dug by the Wall Street greed that propelled the economy’s nosedive.

The problem is those corporate crooks would kill themselves if they had to go to the unemployment line, because they don't know what it's like when they don't have a corporate spending account or some other plan or fund they can dip into. They foul up this nation , then kill themselves leaving turmoil.
