Goldman Sachs, one of the Wall Street firms that got the H1N1 flu shot well ahead of millions of America’s school children, sent this health tip in a memo to its pampered, out-of-touch execs: “Resist the urge to open your own car door; let your driver do it.”

After he was elected AFL-CIO president in September, Richard Trumka traveled around the country on a listening tour. Here’s one story he heard, which he described this week as the AFL-CIO, along with several key allies, launched a jobs initiative to help get our nation back to work.

I am tired, no offense to Mr. Trumka directly of course, of these listening tours.
Read the numbers, folks. Look at what our president is doing.
Look at the Wall Street numbers.

How many Americans know that in the HCR Bills, Public Option and the Exchanges do not kick in until 2013 (House) or 2014 (Senate)? There is no plan to reverse the rapacious increase in premiums over the last decade. By giving another 4-5 years without the supposed competition offered by PO, insurance premiums will go u...p another 50-60%. On top of that House hurriedly passed a Medicare payment increase bill (HR3961) for Doctors which will cost $245B. Big premium hit on John Q Public but plenty for "not in the poorhouse" Doctors.Read More

Don't worry, Obama just gave an ambassadorship to the spouse of a United Health Group executive. They raised $600,000.00 for Obama's campaign. Obama knows where the money is....that's why the House and Senate bills are designed to flood insurance company coffers with forced premiums and government subsidies. This just gets more and more laughable as time goes on...and people are still buying the line that this bill will "reform" healthcare.

Full employment policy is the only position for labor. And in a society as rich and as innovative as ours it is possible.
Just as single payer health coverage should be available to everybody. Nobody in this country should starve; feed everybody then talk values and other abstract shit.

To all Democratic Senators and Representatives in Congress. Support EFCA and working men and women. Labor law must be reformed and the playing field must be leveled. No more illegal firings of employees for attempting to unionize. The penalties for employers who abuse this must be severe instead of a slap on the hand. To you "BLUE Dog" Democrats, get with labor or face the consequences. We put you in office and we can vote you out of office too.

Yes, new jobs, not just maintaining the jobs people have now, because corporations just figure out how to eliminate even more of those jobs. That is negative jobs growth. Give the small employers the stimulus, not the big honchos. If they have all those bucks to get involved in polictics, they should have money to hire more people, but they don't. They have the politicians in their pockets. Basta!

There wouldn't be such a crisis if we didn't keep importing everything and exporting all of our jobs. A decent wage and a decent job in America would really be nice. Corporations only see the bottom line, but they don't realize that their selfish short-sighted actions are crippling our ability to compete globally as a nation.
